Away: the New “It” Luggage, But is it Worth it?

Luggage: Away Medium in Black; Away Medium in Navy

If you haven’t notice by now, I am very visually focused when it comes to making purchases. Translation: I’m first and foremost interested in the look of a product. After that, I will weigh price with quality.

When I saw the Away brand advertised on (you guessed it!) Instagram, I was captivated by the brand’s marketing. The luggage looks sleek and luxe. Given the price, I forced myself to do a deeper dive into the products before making the investment. What really stood out was the lifetime warranty on the luggage. That was really all I needed to know plus instagram continually reminding me over and over how out of date my soft case luggage was (out with soft case and in with hard case!), and then I was off to pick my color.

I bought my husband the Medium in Navy, and I bought the Medium in black with my initials hand-painted on it. So far, we traveled with our Away luggage to Egypt (where we were forced to pack light), Israel, and domestically. The luggage has held up very well. Of course, they have nicks on the outside, but that’s to be expected.

What I love most about Away’s luggage is the organizational opportunities inside. The zippered compartment on the left keeps your belongings in place even after a flight with minimal jostling.

Pro tip: Purchase packing cubes to keep your belongings in place. They even allow you to bring more! I found these on Amazon (way cheaper than on Away’s website).

Finally, I do hope to eventually transition all my luggage sizes to the Away brand. Away looks to make this easy as each piece fits inside the next largest, like a nesting egg.

XOXO
